QPMA Annual Golf Tournament – a Success to a Tee!
Mother Nature was smiling on the Le Versant Golf Club Friday, July 21, for the 250 golfers who signed up for the Annual QPMA Golf Tournament, and happy to treat them to outstanding conditions on the fairways.
Everything was in place to deliver a day full of happy memories. A warm, professional welcome from the club’s ground crew got tee-offs going bright and early, and all across the course players had the pleasure of sampling top-quality fruits, spectacularly presented, and delicious snacks prepared from some of our members’ own products, including frozen treats, great beer (naturally!), and delicious fresh water.
That evening, some 75 guests joined the golfers for cocktails on the terrace, followed by supper, all in the most pleasant atmosphere imaginable. Once again this year, the evening was hosted by Richard Morency. Our interim CEO, Johanne Desrochers, joined him impromptu as co-emcee, and together the pair made an easygoing, remarkably effective team.
Suppertime led off with the presentation of a QPMA cheque to a foundation chosen by our board president. This year’s donation went to the ALS Society of Quebec, in memory of Gaétan Bélanger. Present for the occasion to accept the gift was Chantal Lanthier, who herself suffers from the illness, accomnpanied by her husband, who delivered her message of thanks. It was a very touching and inspiring moment which held the attention of everyone in the room.
Next, in due course, came the exciting draws for super and superb door prizes, with a new format that left people free by 8:30 pm, after an exciting day at the end of a full week. Many guests said they were very pleased with this arrangement.
Financially, it’s expected that targets will be exceeded, though by how much we’re not able to say exactly at this point, as final costs have yet to be confirmed.
The tournament could not have been such a great success without the generous support of our sponsors, partners, directors, Golf Committee members, and the QPMA permanent staff.
