La Coop Fédérée renamed Sollio

One of the largest companies in the Quebec agrifood sector, "La Coop fédérée", is about to change its name to the name "Sollio", which has been used for two years for its division of goods and services to agricultural producers.

The renaming of this century-old cooperative business in the agri-food sector will be one of the main items on the agenda for its next annual meeting, which will take place on Thursday February 27, in a large hotel in downtown Montreal.

This assembly will bring together some 800 representatives of the 60 agricultural cooperatives affiliated to the Coop fédérée in several provinces. It will also be an opportunity for its senior executives to take stock of the 2019 annual results and the priorities of the business plan of this company with 6.5 billion sales and 14,000 employees in three major divisions : Olymel in meats, Sollio Agriculture in goods and services to farmers, and Groupe BMR in hardware stores and renovating materials.

As for the change of name to “Sollio Groupe Coopératif”, in its complete form, it has already been the subject of legislative approval by the Government of Quebec in matters of cooperatives through a private bill to the National Assembly, at the end of 2019.

It will also be a second name change in 15 years for the Coop fédérée, which was known until 2005 under the name "Coopérative fédérée de Québec".
