Update on E. coli Outbreak Originating from Salinas, California

Here is an update of the CPMA on the current outbreak of E. coli infections associated with romaine lettuce from Salinas, a region in California.
The Canadian situation remains stable with only one case having been identified as related to the outbreak.
As of November 26, 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have reported the following:
- 67 illnesses confirmed
- 19 states reporting illness
- 39 hospitalizations
- 6 cases have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome
- No deaths have been reported
- Latest case onset: November 14, 2019
