CULTIVATING THE NEXT GENERATION PROGRAM

 

FOR WHOM ?

Young professionals of the produce industry.

 

WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM BENEFITS ?

This program gives young professionals the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the sector, develop their network of contacts, take part in meetings as an observer and share their opinions on issues and projects the QPMA is involved in.

 

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM CONSIST OF ?

For one year, the young professional, supported by a mentor, will work as an intern.

  • Attend meetings of the board of directors and various QPMA committees.
  • Visit QPMA member companies.
  • Accompany the QPMA CEO to events and meetings with partners and governments.
  • Take part in networking events organized by the QPMA: Oyster Party, Spring Cocktail, Golf Tournament and Annual Convention.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in the CPMA program “Passion for Produce”.

 

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM THE INTERN?

From September to August, the intern will be involved in the above-mentioned activities. At the end of his internship, he will report on the experience and on his involvement in the association at the Industry Brunch, during the Convention.

 

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIAS?

The intern must meet the following criterias:

  • Be employed by a member company of the QPMA
  • Be between 18 and 35 years of age
  • Have completed Secondary 5 / Highschool
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in the industry
  • Have at least 1 year of experience in a position of leadership and/or decision management (such as buyer, manager or team leader, etc.)
  • Have aptitude in the following: independence, cooperation, interpersonal relations, availability, initiative, versatility, selfconfidence and commitment.
  • Have an interest in and the time to get involved in different activities, meetings and committee gathering of the QPMA

 

SELECTION PROCESS

The intern selection process is carried out according to strict criteria. The files of all candidates are evaluated by a selection committee consisting of 4 members:

QPMA board president, president of the Next Generation committee, the program manager and a human resources professional.
The committee reviews candidates’files (CV, letter of intent, letters of reference, etc.) Successful candidates then participate in an interview, which will allow to determine the finalist intern.

 

HOW TO APPLY?

Send the following to the QPMA no later than May 12, 2017:

Your completed participation form
Your letter of intent
Your CV
1 letter of support from your company
2 letters of reference minimum

Only candidates selected for an interview, to be held in July, will be contacted. The intern will be officially presented to the members at the QPMA Convention in August.

 

WHAT IS THE COST?

The QPMA will take charge of the intern’s registration, accommodations and food costs at all the QPMA events and meetings of the program. The intern is responsible for his travel costs.*
