2017 Food Summit

On May 26, QPMA interim CEO Johanne Desrochers took part in the third and final meeting that was held in the run-up to the fall 2017 Food Summit (Sommet sur l’alimentation), whose theme is “Future prospects for agricultural entrepreneurs and fishers.” We were honoured to have Quebec agriculture minister Laurent Lessard present for the entire day. The minister was able to take part in the discussions and share ideas with many of those present, individually as well as in the roundtable sessions. His interest in our sector is clear, and all the participants greatly appreciated his contribution, and that of his deputy minister, Marc Dion.

You can access all the presentations and related documents from this third meeting, and those from the previous meetings as well, on the Food Summit website (please click here).

You’ll find a wealth of information on economic and social trends affecting your business, statistics from Léger Marketing surveys on Quebecer concerns and perceptions, particularly on the agrifood industry, as presented at the second meeting. A gold mine of information for anyone working in our industry.

We especially recommend the presentation by keynote speaker Claude Lafleur on May 26.

The QPMA was invited to all 3 preparatory meetings, and will be present at the Summit this fall. If you have a special interest in the Summit, or if you have concerns that you would like us to convey at the time, please feel free to contact Marie de Tarlé or Johanne Desrochers.
