Bernadette Hamel, Vice President, National Procurement, Produce will retire on November 9th. Ms. Hamel has a long experience in the retail sector and has always had a passion for fruits and vegetables.
Ms. Hamel joined Metro Inc. in 1983 as a buyer and manager of the fruits and vegetables category. After few times in another employer, she went back Metro Inc. in 1998 where she worked her way up until she was named Vice President, National Procurement, Produce in 2010.
She was named "Produce Woman of the Year" by The Packer, sits on the board of the Produce Marketing Association, and was president of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) and launched the National program "Half Your Plate". Finally, she was the first woman elected as president of our association (QPMA) and was honored with the title of "Pillar of the Quebec industry" in 2014.
The QPMA is grateful to Ms. Hamel for her great contribution and positive impact on the Quebec fruit and vegetable industry.
