Food waste, issues and perceptions

Tuesday, September 18th was held at the House of Sustainable Development a lunch-talk on the theme of food waste. Florian Damy, QPMA Communications and Partnerships Coordinator, and Danny Boileau the Next-Generation Intern (Jean-Yves Boileau and Sons) were happy to participate.

It was during this event that the UQAM Research Chair on Ecological Transition, attached to ESG UQAM, in collaboration with La Transformerie, Protégez-vous and the Research Center for Organization, Society and Environment  (OSE) of ESG UQAM presented the study on food waste.

The study made possible to draw up various consumer portraits about wastage but also to analyze various wasting factors such as the expiry date, management of freshness or the fight against food waste in a economic perspective.

The morning rhythmed of reflection workshops in small groups allowed the participants to discuss the actions to be taken and the strategies to be implemented in order to effectively fight against the social production of food waste.

The event was embellished with a buffet made only with unsold products and cooked by Guillaume Cantin, co-initiator of La Transformerie and ambassador of the I Love Fruits and Vegetables Movement.
