QPMA at the roundtable of the CIBIM (Conseil des Industries Bioalimentaires de l'Île de Montréal)

As part of the roll-out of the regional action plan related to the Quebec Food Positioning Strategy in Institutions, the Conseils des Industries Bioalimentaires de l’Île de Montréal (CÎBIM, the biofood industries board of the Island of Montreal) has been a coordinating and leading consultation roundtable since 2016.

CÎBIM is intended as a space for dialogue for the various links in the food chain to better understand and meet the needs of institutional buyers, to discuss the issues and challenges these organizations face in terms of local purchasing, and to promote networking with food processing companies, producers, and distributors, while encouraging the development of business opportunities.

On April 12, the roundtable met with the view to developing a common vision and defining objectives for 2018-2019 along two lines for the education sector: the supply and pooling of purchases, on the one hand, and the promotion and awareness of Quebec food, on the other.

Marie de Tarlé, executive assistant and public affairs, took part in the meeting by sharing QPMA experiences in this area, including the fraicheurquebec.com website, elaborating a sustainable development mission statement, the promotion of fruit and vegetable consumption, and potential training programs in hospitality schools.

The next step will be to develop projects identifying local products, supplying snacks to the educational market, promoting Quebec food in institutions, and developing opportunities for the fruit and vegetable sector.
